Chandigarh: The dengue toll has risen up from 98 to 106 in city with two new reported cases of chikungunya have also been detected at Chandigarh. As per the information given by Gaurav Aggarwal, anti-malaria officer, two new cases of chikungunya are city residents but have been referred from Delhi. With the onset of Dengue season, the Malaria Wing of Health Department Chandigarh Administration has geared up Field activities for Prevention and Control of Dengue.
The major source of breeding has been found to be the coolers and in house containers. It was also observed during the field analysis that the cases of Dengue are isolated cases and there is no clustering .This indicates that there is no or very little local transmission.
