During the protest which began on Sunday over 1500 resident doctors went on strike instead of providing medical services to patients. Such was the attitude of doctors that they shut down emergency OPD gate.
The doctors are adamant to continue their strike today as well and the situation might remain same as talks held between the administration and doctors failed to settle things.
“Like past, this time also administration has just given us assurance and time period to meet our demands but we want a permanent solution. We will continue our strike till our demands are met. Since Sunday night, we having been fighting for our rights but nothing has been done, denial is all what we have got till yet,” said Somvir, Cultural Secretary, ADR.
The entire drama unfolded after a junior resident doctor was slapped by the relative of 70- year- old women who died at PGI during treatment. Patient’s attendants on campus were busy shooting videos to show reality of doctors at PGI and their concern for patients.
