Panchkula: After a long gap, e-challaning has once again come clicking its way to Panchkula. As part of Haryana police pilot project, authorities have been working on this along with an IT firm which has provided infrastructure for e-challaning to Panchkula police.
Meanwhile the e-challaning system was again started in October but following some server problem the concept was not carried out properly to which it was accurately initiated as the Panchkula traffic police introduced spot e-challaning of the traffic violators on November 18.
Where on one hand the people of Panchkula are facing the acute shortage of currency as serpentine queues are seen outside banks and various ATM’s, the traffic police have started accepting the debit and credit cards for depositing the traffic violation challans.
However, it was in 2010, when Haryana police had started this pilot project in Panchkula for the first time. Meanwhile following the start up of e-challan process in Panchkula, police have compiled the data of traffic violations and vehicle registration details of Chandigarh, all the districts of Haryana and other neighbouring regions with the help of software engineers that has been uploaded in the new server.
Telling about the same, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Munish Sehgal told: ‘’ A plan to start the e-challan system again was already in the pipeline of the traffic police earlier also, and now with the process being initiated accurately, it will help in automatic generation of challans and a convenient mode for people to deposit the challans.
