Dera Bassi: A scooty borne father and his minor daughter died on the spot while minor son sustained critical injuries after scooty was hit by an unknown car near Dera Bassi on Ambala-Chandigarh highway on late Dushehra night. Injured Paras(5) has been admitted at Indus hospital near Derabassi.
As per reports, incident took place around 10.30 pm. Thirty years old Deepchand alias Deepak Rawat, son of Narinder, hailing from Pauri Garhwal in Uttrakhand and presently residing on rent in Preet Nagar, Derabassi was running a vegetable shop in town. He was returning to Derabassi from Jawaharpur on scooty when a Ritz car while overtaking, hit the scooty, following which Deepak lost balance. After hitting the iron crash barriers of divider, scooty got dragged on the road. Sustaining head injuries, Deepak and son Paras (5), fell on the road while pillion rider Simran(8) fell between the divider. Passersby rushed in their private vehicle at hospital where doctors declared Deepak and Simran brought dead.
Deepak was lone son in the family. His father Narinder and mother reached from Uttrakhand and performed last rites at Derabassi cremation ground. After burying body of his grand daughter Simran, he lit pyre of his lone son amid pall of gloom. Meanwhile, police have registered a case under section 279, 427, 337 and 304 A on complaint of eyewitness Yashodhar Prasad against absconding unknown driver of unknown car.
