A 29 years old fire fighter of Chandigarh succumbed to injuries while another fire fighter was injured after they were allegedly hit by a rashly driven Honda Jazz car here at Sector 7, Tuesday late night.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Pawan Kumar, a residnet of Mani Majra and a native of Village Silana, Sonipat (Haryana). The victim is survived by his two children, a daugheter aged 3 years and a son, six months old.
The injured has been identified as Anil. Both victims are employed with Chandigarh Fire department.
Police sources said that the accident took place on Tuesday nighty when the victims were heading towards KBDAV side crossing Khalsa college on their motoryccle where a car driven by an unknown women hit the victims.
The impact of the hit was so hard that the victims jumped into the air and then fell on the road.
In the mawnhikle, the accused car driver managed to escape from the spot. The victims were rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH) Sector 16 where Pawan was reffered to PGI who succumbed to injuries at PGI on Wednesday monring whereas the injured Anil was discharegd.
Meanwhile, the police have idnetified the vehicle belonging to a woman of Sector 50.
The Police were conducting raids to ascertain the accused after registering a case under sections 279 (rash driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC at Police Station Sector 26.
