Chandigarh: The number of patients coming to the Advance Eye Centre (AEC) of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) having firecracker injuries have increased twofold as compared to last four years.
Prof Jagat Ram Head of Department AEC highlighted this while sharing the figures of the Diwali injuries on Tuesday. He further shared that this time, keeping in mind the Diwali related injuries, the AEC staff was deputed on a special three days duty from 29 to 31.
Commenting on as the number of injuries have increased this year, he added, “So many awareness campaigns were going this year, lost was highlighted in media but surprisingly this year the number was almost double. As compared to last year this tie the kind of injuries among the patients was much swear.” “In last three days, about 85 patients visited PGIMER AEC out of which 45 were cracker-related injuries. Punjab lead followed by Haryana, Himachal, and UP,” shared Dr Jagat Ram.
