Chandigarh: Former High Court Justice Mahavir Singh Chauhan has been appointed as Chairman Police Complaint Authority (PCA) to redress the complaints against UT police. The name of former Director General of Police (DGP) Rajasthan, A S Gill has been cleared for post of a member PCA.
UT Home Secretary Anurag Agarwal said, “We have finalised the two names from the panel for PCA. Former high court Justice Mahavir Singh Chauhan’s name has been cleared for Chairman and former DGP Rajasthan, A S Gill for member. The two names will be sent for their consent after which the PCA will strat functioning. The PCA is likely to start its function from March first week. They have been appointed for three years term.”
The two officers will be given a fixed remuneration of Rs 4000 per sitting with upper sealing of Rs 30,000 per month. Generally PCA used to take hearing twice a month.
UT Administration has recently received a fresh panel for the appointment of the Chairman of Police Complaint Authority (PCA. High Court has recommended three names of the retired judges M L Jindal, Karamchand Puri and Mahavir Singh Chauhan. The name of former DGP Rajasthan A S Gill has been recommended by IG Police.
