23 driving licenses already suspended in two days
Chandigarh: The next time you dare to commit a traffic offence while driving in Chandigarh think twice as your driving license will be suspended for 3 months minimum.
Acting stern over the spurt in number of traffic violations in City, the Chandigarh traffic Police have initiated to suspend the driving license of the vehicle driver for a minimum period of 3 months.
Talking to Daily Post, Eish Singhal, SSP Traffic, Chandigarh Police said “We have received orders from the concerned authority to suspend the driving license of the offender in particular offences and send a report to the Registration and License Authority (RLA) of the same.”
The SSP traffic said the drivers jumping the red light, over-speeding, using mobile phone while driving and the goods and cargo vehicle riders occupying passengers will invite suspension of driving license for 3 months.
It doesn’t matters whether the driver is from Chandigarh or any other state, the Chandigarh Traffic Police after issuing the challan for any of the four violations will write to the
concerned state RLA to seize the driving license for 3 months.
Meanwhile, Inspector Paramjit Kaur Sekhon, Traffic Police UT, said that the drive was started on November 10 and by the end of the November 11, driving license of 23 people have been suspended and the reports have been sent to their concerned RLA’s.
On Thursday, only one license was suspended while on Friday 22 licenses were suspended in the day.
Meanwhile, the maximum suspension were made following violations of over speeding. The violators were caught at the nakas where the traffic cops have been deployed with speedometers, said the Inspector.
