Chandigarh: French delegation led by Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France in India and Jean- Yves Le Drian, Defence Minister of France wished to render their full technical support for sustainable development of Chandigarh. The delegation met Governor of Punjab and Administrator UT, Chandigarh, V P Singh Badnore, at Punjab Raj Bhavan on Saturday.
Discussing various issues at length, the Administrator said that there was a major scope of cooperation in the areas of sustainable development, particularly in transport, waste management and urban development in Chandigarh. He said that the focus should be laid on segregation of waste and there is a need of latest technology in this field.
Badnore said that Chandigarh is number one city in India for very many reasons, especially in architecture, cleanliness, greenery and also leading in tapping roof top solar energy in the country. He said Chandigarh should not only become a smart city but the smartest city in the world.
Badnore further said that another area in which we were interested was rapid transport system. As per him Chandigarh is not very big city, and people are not interested in metro, but in other transport systems and asked the delegation to share whatever latest technology they have in these areas.
Alexandre, Ziegler, Ambassador of France in India assured the Administrator that they would extend all possible cooperation and in sharing latest technical know-how in the areas of your interest. Prominent amongst others were M P Singh, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor of Punjab and Parimal Rai, Adviser to the Administrator.
