Chandigarh:Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL) has donated 2500 dustbins worth Rs 1 crore to Municipal Corporation under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) concept. MC will be placing the dustbins across the city under Swatch Bharat Abhiyan.
MC at present has received 200 dustbins from GAIL which will be inaugurated by Dharminder Pradhan, Minister of State (with Independent charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas on November 11 along with PNG pipeline in Sector 49, Chandigarh.
Satish Kainth, councillor said that such dustbins will be procured from GAIL under CSR concept where MC gets the dustbins free of cost.
He said, “MC under Swatch Bharat Abhiyan is already in process of installing dustbins in various markets, road sides, parks and other such places where footfall is more. This initiative by GAIL will give boost to the concept enabling MC to meet the target of installation of 10,000 dust bins across the city. The inauguration of the launching of the GAIL dustbins will be done by Dharminder Pradhan, Minister of State (with Independent charge) for Petroleum and Natural Gas on November 11 along with PNG pipeline.”
Earlier MC had carried out exercise to install 2000 dustbins across the city. Mayor Arun Sood had recently announced to install such dustbins across the city and the process of installing the duct bins is being carried out.
