Chandigarh: The tall claim of the PGIMER of bagging the Kayakalp award fell flat on Saturday as garbage was found unattended near Gol Market dumper, which emanates filth and stink.
During a visit by Daily Post, many other spots in the hospital were also found littered with garbage, creating unwanted condition for visitors. One of the premier medical institutes of the country, where patients come for treatment, but now the authorities seem to have started compromising with the health of its patients. The Kayakalp award is meant to encourage a culture of hygiene and to maintain the waste disposal among hospitals. After getting the prize money of Rs 5 crore from the ministry, it seems that the authorities have started ignoring the cleaning aspect of the hospital.
The Swachh Bharat Mission, an initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, does not appear to mean anything for the PGI authorities.
