Chandigarh: The Municipal Corporation (MC) has finalised the installation of Automated Mobile Water Vending Machines at 22 different locations next to the e-rickshaw stands across the city. The contract has been given to i-Satya Gram Food and Beverages which will install the mobile water vending machines. To start with, MC is likely to install first machine at Sukhna Lake which will be inaugurated on September 11.
The MC had approved the project under Smart Public Drinking system in Chandigarh through Automated Mobile Water Vending Machines (e-water ATMs) and these will be introduced in 22 locations in first phase.
Mayor Arun Sood said, “To quench the thirst of the people on roads and markets, the MC has approved the installation of 22 such Smart Public Drinking systems in Chandigarh through Automated Mobile Water Vending Machines termed as e-water ATMs. The operating company will pay Rs 3.4 lakh as rent to MC for putting up such machines across the city. It will be taken as pilot project with recyclable paper glasses with drinking water at WHO standards. One can operate the machine with coin, parpaid cards or through mobile app.”
The machines will dispense water in capacity of 250 milli litres with payment of Rs 2 and one litre for payment of Rs 5. The recycled paper glass will be of one litre capacity.
The e-water ATMs will also have display screens showing the drinking water purity along with the temperature and if the temperature increases above 20 degree Celsius in machine, the water dispensing will be stopped automatically, said Mayor.
