Chandigarh: The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday said it was highly shameful of AAP Punjab Convenor Gurpreet Singh Waraich to first praise SAD- BJP government for taking steps to eradicate drugs in Punjab and now criticizing the government for the same.

“It is even more condemnable to claim that you praised the Punjab government’s efforts at a Kabaddi match because you were paid to read out from a script”, party spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said in a statement here.

Dr Cheema said, “First of all the video in which you are seen lauding the state’s anti drug drive does not show you reading from a script. Moreover even if one takes your explanation at face value that you were paid to do this then please tell Punjabis whether you are being paid for the reaction you are giving now ?”

The Akali spokesman further said, “ It is sad that you are trying to befool Punjabis on the same pattern as Kejriwal. You are trying to pass off a remark praising the Punjab government during a function in 2014 as something which you were asked to do. This kind of behaviour shows that you have still not matured and continue to behave like a comedian who is ready to sell his wares to the highest bidder who at this point of time seems to be Kejriwal.

I would only like to say one thing. Act like a Punjabi. Don’t sell your soul to outsiders to such an extent that you start defaming your own State and its people”.
