Chandigarh: Seeing the increase in rush of patients suffering from dengue fever, GMSH-16 has decided to start fever OPD that will function from 8 am to 8 pm.
The decision has been taken in view of the increase in a number of fever cases. On Monday, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Director Health Services UT (DHS) Vanita Gupta.
In meeting, DHS conveyed that as hospital emergency has become crowded because of patients with high fever, a special dedicated ‘Fever OPD’ will function from 8 am to 8 pm in the new OPD block Room number 304, for examination, investigation and treatment of patients. With this the strength of medical and para medical staff, has also been increased to cope up workload. However, since the hospital is burdened with number of patients coming with high fever, hospital has postponed the planned surgeries until situation is eased out.
Hospital has also increased the stocks of adequate quantity of medicines, consumables and IV fluids are available for the management of fever cases. With this 24X7, laboratory services have also been made available 24X7 for all patients including fever cases.
Hospital has also clarified that only those patients who will be suspected to be suffering from dengue or Chikungunya will be subject to specialise treatment. Health authorities have also advised that all residents are directed not to panic during fever and should take only Paracetamol till they are examined by doctors in the dispensary or hospitals. The investigation if any should only be undertaken on doctors’ advice and self-medication should be avoided.
