Chandigarh: The major problem prevailing in the grid forming Sectors 15 to 28 in Chandigarh is the haphazard parking, filth due to exposed garbage dumps and wild growth irking residents and traders. Residents and traders believe that inadequate parking space outside market areas and bad parking sense have left Sectors chaotic and traffic prone.
The reality checks made by the team of Daily Post led by Barinder Saluja revealed that the Sectors 15 to 28 grid is marred by major haphazard parking sense prevailing in such Sectors. Traffic jams during the evening hours are repercussion of the unsystematic parking of vehicles outside markets falling on the V-3 roads of the grid.
However, the overall scenario of the Sectors falling in this grid is also not that favourable as wild growth, unhygienic conditions of eateries, makeshift snacks kiosks, missing public toilets, garbage dumps on turnings are common sites in these sectors.
Traders feel that years on, the UT Administration has failed to get relief for the traders as well as the commuters from the parking problems in various markets of Chandigarh. The congested parkings have left no other option for the commuters but to park the vehicle on the roadsides. Posing threat to the traffic and getting vulnerable to accidents, the commuters visiting various markets have been forced to park their vehicles on the road sides. The congested parking lots have no place for other vehicles.
