Chandigarh : Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday directed Chandigarh Golf Club to deposit Rs 5 lakh every month from March 16, 2013 onwards with Chandigarh Administration. The order came on a petition filed by Chandigarh Golf Club on the issue of rent and lease. Division Bench comprising of Justice M Jeyapaul and Justice Sneh Prashar, directed Golf Club to deposit the amount within six weeks.
Chandigarh Administration had pleaded before the court that Golf Club be directed to deposit the lease-rent amount from March 2013 during previous hearing. In its reply Chandigarh Golf Club disclosed that it has deposited 50 per cent of the total lease-rent amount which amounts to Rs 3.99 crore. Counsel for the club said in the court that the amount has been deposited as Fixed Deposit in the name of High Court Registrar General.
The club said that it has deposited Rs 30 lakh on court orders. Now administration is again demanding lease-rent amount which is wrong. The club stated in its petition that for seeking solution to the controversy retired Justice Kuldeep Singh was appointed as mediator by High Court but no solution was found. Later the matter was referred to mediation centre as final outcome could not be reached the case again came before High Court for hearing.
