Chandigarh: Regarding the issue of school asking parents to pay Rs 1,200 per student for holding their annual function, High Court has directed the Director School Education (DSE) Rubinderjeet Singh Brar to expeditiously pass a decision on the complaint filed by Nitin Goyal, president of Chandigarh Parents Association (CPA) CPA within a maximum period of 3 months.
Notably, on October 21, Nitin Goyal had submitted a representation to DSE against this loot in the name of annual functions and
other co-curricular activities.
In its complaint, CPA sought directions to be issued to all private schools to issue proper receipts of all amounts collected from the parents, share details of accounts of these collections, and if any money is left unutilized after these functions or events, it must be refunded to the parents instead of being pocketed by the schools.
Giving more information Goyal said, “Instead of taking any action on the representation, the DSE kept dilly-dallying the matter, hence the CPA approached the Punjab and Haryana High Court by filing a writ petition.”
“On Wednesday, Sartaj Khan, the advocate for the association has informed that while taking cognizance of the matter, the High Court has directed the DSE to expeditiously pass a decision on the complaint filed by Nitin Goyal, president of CPA within a maximum period of 3 months,” added Goyal.
