Chandigarh: Going a step ahead to make sure that no sweet shop in city sells or manufactures adulterated and unhygienic sweets, the Food Safety and Standards Department UT on Thursday for the first has sealed the one sweetmeat and one bakery unit along with taking the samples and issuing the challans in one go at two villages in Manimajra.
Talking to Daily post Correspondent, Sukhwinder Singh, Designated Officer, Department of Food Safety and Standards, Chandigarh Administration, said, “On Thursday, once again, the joint team from the department conducted the raid in the area of village Kishangarh, Shastri Nagar and village Daria at night to check the miscreants those who are operating at night”.
“ While this was the first time that we have not waited for the sample report and have sealed the manufacturing units after taking the sample of cream and challan for doing business in unhygienic condition was issued,” informed Singh.
“Keeping the view of the festival season, the demand for sweets, and bakery products increase manifold, hence the monitoring of such items becomes an important fact to make sure that the city residents are not eating any unhygienic products,” added Sukhwinder Singh.
