Chandigarh: Chief Managing Director cum owner H S Arora of M/s James Hotel (formally known as Park Plaza) stated that he will get criminal case registered against bank officials as well as supporting staff for harassing, roughing up guests and hotel staff. Arora said this during press conference held at hotel on Saturday.
Arora added that he has also sought justification from the government over haste of taking physical possession of the hotel despite of the fact that matter was sub-judice before Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) and was slated to come up for hearing on August 29. The counsel of banks had already sought for the hearing date for August 29 for filling reply.
Arora further said that immediately after bank’s counsel sought date from DRT, Chandigarh, banks on August 24 got published a notice in the newspapers regarding taking physical possession of the property with full force on August 26.
Arora said, “My hotel staff and guests have been roughed up and manhandled by bank officials and their supporting staff. I will get the criminal case registered against them. On August 26, possession was taken ruthlessly by bank officials and the police, instead of the orders of Labour Commissioner Chandigarh stating therein that prior notice have not been issued to innocent workers and employees.”
“The CCTV footage clearly states the government officials were found using the mini bar, beer bars and liquor stocks in the property,” alleged Arora.
He said that government and banks never even considered the fate of 250 employees working in hotel will be rendered jobless. Arora stated that he has remained the highest tax payer of Chandigarh for year and wants to settle the matter at the earliest.
