Roads re-carpeted a few months back are again in dilapidated condition
Panchkula: Following the divide of the sectors between Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) and Municipal Corporation (MC), commuters and city residents are suffering following dilapidated condition of roads in the city. Roads re-carpeted a few months back by HUDA and MC at their respective sectors can again be seen in a very bad shape.
These decrepit conditions of roads are further raising question over the quality of material being used by the contractors. Also in 2015 two samples of material being used in carpeting of roads in Panchkula had failed the quality test.
It is pertinent to mention that majority of the
roads in the city are in need of immediate repair. The
carpeting work was started in April 2016, but has been marred by controversies and delays. The MC re-invited three tenders of Rs 4.73 crore for the repair and strengthening of various roads in Panchkula in March, last year but after a span of around 9 months, roads at several points of the city could be found in worst conditions.
Also due to incessant rains this year, roads leading to Sectors 15 and 16, Buddanpur, Majri Chowk, Rajiv Colony and Indira Colony in Panchkula from the Zirakpur highway along with roads at Industrial area and in trans-Ghaggar Sectors have developed potholes.
“Almost all roads in Panchkula are in a shamblesLocals allege that roads at trans-Ghaggar Sectors have not been repaired.
