Chandigarh: A delegation of Joint action Committee (JAC) on Thursday met Punjab governor and Chandigarh administrator V P Singh Badnore and submitted a memorandum of long pending demands of UT teachers. During the meeting, the union demanded that a policy for Regularisation of all teachers working in UT Schools should be formed immediately so that the teachers can be assured about their job security.
The union also demanded that the Governor should also review the policy of taking teachers on deputation from other states on promotional posts. The demand regarding the finalization of seniority list of 534 lecturers was also discussed. Giving more details, Convener of joint action committee of UT teachers Chandigarh, Bhag Singh Kairon said that the Governor heard the delegation very patiently and he assured that there is a need of policy for regularization section of teaching staff, review the deputation policy by not taking junior teachers and the principals on deputation to the UT teachers.
He added that the Governor was also surprised to know that the Education Department has failed to finalise the seniority list even of 500 lecturers till date. The delegation also emphasized that the solution to all above said problems of teachers is the implementation of the notification dated January 13, 1992 issued by Government of India regarding the service conditions and other allied matters in totality as per Punjab rules. “After having detailed discussion, the Administrator reached to a conclusion that it will call a joint meeting of concerned officers of Education Department and representatives of JAC to find out the solution of the pending demands”, said Ranbir Rana member of JAC.
