Kalka: As many as two unidentified robbers brutally murdered a youth, identified as Subhanshu (19), the son of the owner of the jewellery shop in the wee hours on Tuesday in main market of Kalka. Subhabshu was sleeping inside the shop. Robbers also looted 1.5 kg of gold and 5-6 kg of silver ornaments before fleeing from the shop. The owner claimed a total loss of Rs 50 lakh, said the police. The murder and robbery incident has been recorded in CCTV footage, claimed the police. According to police, two robbers, with muffled faces entered the shop from rear side at around 1:30 am by breaking the back door.
One of the robber strangulated Subhanshu whereas the other one started hitting him on his head with iron rod. They stayed there in the shop for about one hour, said the police. They both brutally murdered him first and then looted the gold and silver jewellery before fleeing from the shop. Police said that the shop owner Jagdish Raj Verma said that he has lost jewellery worth Rs 50 lakh. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anil Dhawan said, “A boy, Sudhanshu, has been murdered by two unidentified robbers and looted the jewellery from the shop. The incident recorded in the CCTV footage has been taken in possession by the police. We will go through the CCTV grab and trace out the murder. During the preliminary investigations, it has been learnt that the robbers have used electric cutter to break open the chest containing cash and jewellery.” The incident was highlighted when Jagdish Raj Verma came in the morning to check as his son had not returned home. When he opened the door, he saw Subhanshu lying in pool of blood and his shop had been looted. The scene of crime team was pressed into action along with the dog squad. The team took fingerprint samples from the shop which have been sent for forensic examination, said the DCP. DP
