Chandigarh: A financier, identified as Harvinder Baja, was kidnapped by four unidentified persons from Sector 35 in Chandigarh late last evening. Later, after paying ransom of Rs. 40 lakh, Bajaj was relieved by the kidnappers.
According to the Police, victim Harvinder Bajaj after his work was going back to his residence by car in sector 35, sooner another car intercepted his car . Thereafter, two unidentified persons approached him and forcibly asked him to drive his car at gunpoint, while the other two kidnappers followed. The accused then settled into victim’s car and forcibly drove the car towards Mohali city.
Victim Bajaj also complained to the police that he was threatened and was asked for a ransom of Rs. 10 crore. But, after some negotiations, a ransom of Rs. 4o lakh was fixed. Bajaj then called one of his friend from his mobile phone and asked for money. Kidnappers then asked his friend to come out of his house and hand over the money.
Kidnappers after getting the ransom, drove the car towards Chappar Chiri in Mohali where they released Bajaj. Also, after few kilometres kidnappers released the victim’s car too, but took his mobile phone along.
Harvinder Bajaj,victim then reached his home at midnight and informed the local police immediately.
Reportedly, Chandigarh Police have registered the case and have started the investigation with immediate effect. Police also addressed that CCTV footage will be checked and to identify the kidnappers.
