Panchkula: Pothole related issues continue to haunt Panchkula residents as tackling them in traffic becomes deadly. Killer pot hole on Zirakpur-Kalka highway just before the crossing of the Majri chowk which is almost covering the full road has still failed to wake up National Highway Authorities of India (NHAI) from deep slumber.
However, this is not the first time as earlier also such deep killer potholes for a long time remained unnoticed. According to the people after complaining to NHAI several times the potholes on the highway were repaired after a long time earlier also. Meanwhile due to this killer pothole, several cases of accidents had occurred at the spot and recently a woman had fell from her active scooter following which she suffered serious injuries with a fracture in her hand.
Various residents’ welfare associations alleged that HUDA and NHAI should close the road and divert the traffic from sectors but the problem should be rectified once for all. Also the patchwork on roads that was done recently by the Panchkula Municipal Corporation has been eroded. Various main roads and internal roads of various sectors are in a drastic condition.
Rakesh Aggarwal, a resident of Sector 12, Panchkula and chairman of Lok Saravhitkari Society stated, ‘I have been confirmed by HUDA extension and project in charge NHAI that team has carried out work on killer pothole near Majri Chowk. We hope that this time work should be done properly so that the same situation does not occur again within months.’
