With Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harminder Singh Mintoo developing severe heart complications on Monday, jail authorities at Patiala were advised to shift him from Government Rajindra Hospital here to PGI, Chandigarh for further medical treatment and a team of Patiala Police took Mintoo to Chandigarh during the evening on Monday.It may be mentioned here that Mintoo, who fled away from the high-security Nabha Jail on November 27 last year when the jail was attacked by gun-toting attackers and was nabbed by Delhi Police in an operation, developed heart complications in jail and he was brought to the emergency ward of Government Rajindra Hospital late on Sunday night.
Even though the doctors attending to him tried their best and provided quality medical treatment to him, but he failed to show any sign of improvement and his health condition further deteriorated. Therefore, he was referred to PGI, Chandigarh.Upon contacting the doctor attending to Mintoo, Dr Bhupinder Singh Brar said that as Mintoo was admitted in the hospital with the heart ailment, he was provided the best available medical treatment but his ECG tests showed more complications and his high blood pressure was constantly rising as well. Dr Brar said that after monitoring his health very carefully, it was decided to refer him to PGI, Chandigarh.Later, a team of police led by DSP (City) Gaurav Jindal took Mintoo to PGI, Chandigarh. SP (City) Kesar Singh himself supervised the whole operation and also made elaborate security arrangements to take Mintoo to PGI, Chandigarh.
