Main accused, Panchkula murder among New Year’s eve, arrested
Panchkula: After 15 days, the Panchkula Police on Sunday night detained two accused in connection with the New Year’s Eve murder case. One of them is said to be the prime accused in the case.
The police have arrested Chunna, the prime accused in the case, along with Shappa and Vicky from Majri Chowk, Sector- 1 Panchkula, as told by a senior official on the condition of anonymity.
In a blatant display of lawlessness that underlined a tough job for the Panchkula Police during the New Year’s eve, a group of seven inebriated men stabbed a 24-year-old Baddi resident to death in Sector 5 in the parking lot outside a club following some heated arguments on the intervening night of December 31 and January 1.
Deepak Kumar, the deceased, was celebrating the arrival of New Year with four of his friends in the parking lot when the accused pounced on him. Three members of Deepak’s group hid as their friend was stabbed. Arshad, also part of the group, was admitted to the Civil Hospital with injuries.
The local police on January 9 had arrested four persons in this regard identified as Rajan Singh, alias Mani (21), Nishant Sharma, alias Nalua (22), Mohammad Izhar (28) and Mohammad Ajmal (21), all residents of Manimajra, Chandigarh.
