Derabassi:A 35-year-old married man was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Meerpur village on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Mukhtiyar Singh, son of late Gian Singh. Terming it a murder case, the family members have alleged the involvement of wife of deceased and her paramour Bunty of the same village in the case. However, the police have started inquest proceedings in the case.
It has to be mentioned here that Mukhtiar Singh was a driver by profession. His wife Mamta, mother of four children including three sons and a youngest daughter, had eloped with a youth Bunty, of the same village around three months ago. Till then, both had been residing together out of the village. Though her husband had passed away and all four children had been left alone in the family but Mamta did not return to look after them.
The Derabassi police said that they got a call from one of the family members of the deceased in the morning following which the police team rushed to the spot. The police said that the victim’s cousin Rakesh in his complaint had alleged that Mukhtiyar Singh was strangulated by Bunty, a resident of the same village. He alleged that Bunty and his accomplice had killed Mukhtiyar Singh as Bunty had an affair with the victim’s wife. Rakesh said that Sagar an 11-year-old son had witnessed the crime and said that Bunty along with his accomplice had come to their house at Mirpur village and strangulated Mukhtiyar Singh. The police sources said that they have not got any clue that could confirm the victim’s strangulation following which an inquest proceeding had been initiated into the matter.
Meanwhile, panel of three doctors from Civil Hospital, Derabbassi conducted post-mortem on the body on Tuesday. SHO Harkirat Singh, Derabassi said that they have initiated an inquest proceeding into the matter and action will be decided once they get an autopsy report of the deceased. Police have sent viscera at Kharar to know more cause about the death, he added.
