Furious over being doubted by wife for having extra marital affairs, a man strangulated his 19-year-old wife to death and claimed it to be suicide. The accused has been arrested under sections of murder by the Police.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Adarsh, a resident of Village Faidan, Chandigarh. He was working as a labourer with a private printing press in Mohali. Deepak Yadav, DSP South said on Wednesday night at about 9 pm, the police received information of suicide incident in village Faidan at police station, Sector 31. Following the information, the police team reached the spot where the victim’s sister, Aneesha, a resident of village Jagatpura, Mohali stated to the Police her younger sister, Anita (19) got married with Adarsh about 6 month back.
She added that it was a love marriage and after the marriage, she was residing at village Faidan in a room with her husband Adarsh. She said that the victim Anita told her sister that from last few days Adarsh is quarrelling with her saying that he remained all the day out from the house, abused her and also threatened her to kill if she doubted her.
Aneesha added that she went to Anita’s room in village Faidan along with her younger brother Vinay to see her sister and when they reached there she found that her brother-in law Adarsh coming out from the room, where Adarsh told her that her sister hanged herself to death and he was heading to them to inform. The victim’s sister Annesha then complained about the matter to the Police. Following the complaint, the Police team initiated the investigation and found that the victim’s husband Adarsh has lied about his wife’s death as claiming that she committed suicide by hanging herself with a saree.
When interrogated, the accused could not reconstruct the whole suicide incident and later he confessed about strangulating her wife with a piece of cloth as she was fighting with him over his extramarital affair.
