Chandigarh: Municipal Corporation (MC) will ensure to illuminate the defunct street, parks and market lights by Diwali. Mayor Arun Sood held a meeting of engineers of electricity wing of MC at committee room on Tuesday regarding revamping of street and park lights throughout the city before this Diwali.
The meeting was attended by Mukesh Bassi, Chairman, Electricity Committee, N P Sharma, Chief Engineer, Executive Engineer, SDOs and all junior engineers of electricity wing of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
During the meeting the Mayor asked the concerned engineers for preparing an inventory of all the street lights including polls, lamps and other necessary fittings etc. within two days. He also asked them to prepare area based list of faulty electricity points, damaged wires and fused lamps.
It was also discussed and decided that required manpower, machinery will also be hired through outsourcing to complete the job before Diwali. The Mayor said that priority will be given to the residential areas including V-5 road, V-4 road, neighborhood and big parks, markets of the city and street lights on V-3 roads of the city.
During the meeting, it was decided that short-term tenders amounting to Rs. 30 lakh will be floated for providing and fixing the electricity fittings and 100 per cent lights will be made functional before Diwali.
The Mayor asked the concerned officials to prepare agenda items keeping in view the short term requirement and long term services regarding purchasing necessary machinery including boom ladders, inspection vehicles, supply items (different kind of electricity fittings) in the electrical wing alongwith manpower to put up in the coming Finance & Contract meeting and House meeting of the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
