Chandigarh: The scorching heat wave has gripped the tricity with mercury shooting up to over 40 degree Celsius mark within next 24 hours. However, the MeT officials have also predicted mild rain at isolated places across the tricity in next 48 hours. The city residents are in for dry weather in coming week with mercury expected to jump above the 40 degree Celsius mark. Heat wave will also sweep the tricity, said MeT official.
Though mild rain is expected in next 48 hours but there will not be much relief from the scorching heat, said MeT official. On Saturday, MeT recorded 39.5 degree Celsius temperature during the day time which was 5 degree Celsius above the normal and 22.2 degree Celsius during the nights which was 3 degree Celsius above the normal. The MeT predicts partly cloudy skies with rain and thunder showers to occur at isolated places on Sunday and Monday. However, there will not be much change in the maximum and minimum temperatures.
