Panchkula: Involved in multi crore fraud case, the owners of Shalimar Mall R K Aggarwal and his wife Kamlesh Aggarwal were arrested by a
special investigation team of Panchkula Police from Naraingarh on Monday night, said Inspector Mahender Singh, EOW, Panchkula police.
According to the police officials, the accused which were on the run were held after the officials received a tip-off about them following which a naka was laid at Naraingarh and the main honcho R K Aggarwal was arrested with his wife.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the economic offences wing of Panchkula police produced the duo in the local court further to which they were sent to five days police remand.
Both had been absconding and an SIT was recently formed. The co-accused in the case and relatives of Aggarwal were arrested by the economic offences wing earlier this month.
There are about 110 complainants in the case who alleged that they were promised shops in Shalimar Mall and Rs 70 crore was taken but neither was the money returned nor were the shops offered. At present, the Shalimar Mall is closed down, as it has yet to pay Rs 6.68 crore property tax to Municipal Corporation Panchkula.
