The crime was committed by four Nepali friends on pretext of robbery
Chandigarh: Investigating for almost two weeks, the Chandigarh Police have finally solved the blind murder case of Nepal native, whose half-charred body was found in forest area of Makhan Majra, Chandigarh on January 25. The police have arrested one person, while three are still absconding.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Kiran Singh, also a Nepal native. The victim was working in apple farms in Shimla (HP).
Satish Kumar, DSP East said “After the body was found in forest area, during search of remaining clothes of the dead body, one purse containing Voter Card, photographs etc. was found from the back pocket of trouser of the deceased.
As per voter card, the deceased was identified as Dhan Bahadur, a resident of Koski (Nepal). For the identification of body, efforts were made and during investigation through social media, photo was sent to Nepal area, and family of Dhan Bahadur contacted us and deceased’s son Deepak provided a mobile number of his father and the same had been found active till September 29, 2016. On that day, the location of his mobile was Shimla to Chandigarh and the last location was Dariya village, Chandigarh.
Accused arrested from IMEI number location
During the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) technical search etc, the mobile set was found running in Ramnagar district, Nainital. Accordingly, Kiran Singh, user of mobile set has been apprehended who’s also native of Nepal and his mobile location on September 29, 2016 matched that of the deceased. Four Nepal natives befriended with victim for robbery and then killed him.
The DSP said that the victim Dhan Bahadur who was working in apple farms in Shimla was returning to Nepal via Chandigarh. He met four Nepal natives at Shimla bus stand who befriended with victim after seeing huge money in his bag. The accused then after reaching Chandigarh asked victim to have drinks at Dariya village and later took him to the jungle area to have drinks claiming that there were no cops. The accused then after sometime snatched the money and mobile phone from the victim and then killed him. The accused then escaped away.
Meanwhile, the mobile of the deceased has been received from the accused and he has confessed the crime that he along with three other Nepali persons initially drink with Dhan Bahadur in jungle area and then looted Rs 40,000 and mobile from him and then he killed him in jungle by strangulating him.
Three accused absconding
The Police have taken the police remand of Kiran of 10 days. The police are suspecting that after the accused left from jungle area, one of them returned again and charred the body to remove any evidences.
