Chandigarh:Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda was in the City Beautiful to inaugurate the 1.5 Tesla MRI, 64 Slice CT and Digital Radiography System at GMCH, Sector-32 on Saturday.He also inaugurated AMRIT (Affordable Medicine and Reliable Implants for Treatment) pharmacy, an affordable place for buying medical appliances like stents, implants and generic drugs.
UT Chandigarh Member of Parliament Kirron Kher, Adviser to the Administrator, Parimal Rai, Home secretary cum SMER Anurag Agarwal andDirector Principal Atul Sachdev were also present during the occasion.
Nadda visits Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities
J P Nadda also visited and interacted with special children and students of the Government Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID), Sector-31, Chandigarh on Saturday.
On his visit, various activities carried out at GRIID were observed and appreciated, which included Special Education Training, Vocational Training, Human Resource Development Programmes and daily OPD clinic for intellectual and developmental disabilities which included Physiotherapy Unit, Occupational Therapy Unit, Facilitation services Unit, Special Education Clinic and sensory Integration Therapy Unit.
A cultural evening was followed at the release of the first issue of Journal of Disability Management and Special Education, published by GRIID. The Minister also honoured the topper students of the MEd., BEd. and DEd in special education.
Concluding the event, Nadda appreciated the efforts of team GRIID and Dr B S Chavan for the development of this institute from GIMRC to GRIID. He further emphasised that he would explore the possibilities of similar institution in different states.
