MP Kirron Kher likely to inaugurate the new block
Chandigarh: Municipal Corporation (MC) will be holding the next house meet on the 5th floor of the new extension building on November 14. The new extension building on the 5th floor was to be handed over to MC by November 10 but it has been delayed and now will be hand over on November 14 itself.
The building will be inaugurated on November 14 by Member Parliament (MP) Kirron Kher and she will also attend the house meet. Two new lifts have also been fitted in the new building which has been made operational.
The ambitious project of the MC, the new extension building getting final touch MC is pushing up the work so that the building may be inaugurated before the implementation of the election code of conduct. According to state election commission the code of conduct will come into force from November 15 onwards.
Mayor Arun Sood said, “We will be holding the inauguration of the new extension building of the MC on November14. MP Kirron Kher will be inaugurating the building. The 5th floor of the building will house the office of Mayor and MC house along with offices of the other officers. We have also made two lifts operational to reach the fifth floor. The new extension was long pending and during my tenure I got the work expedited to reach the completion.”
Mayor also said that his office will also be shifted to the 5th floor next to the MC house room. “The final touches are being given to the 5th floor with AC ducting and false ceiling in progress. The contractor will be handing over the new building by November 10 after which the entire furniture will be shifted to the room. The new chairs have already been bought for the office,” said Mayor.
