Many banks in the city at around 1 pm, declared that there was no cash
Panchkula: The new currency on Saturday took a while for the residents in Panchkula as soon after its reach to various banks and post offices, it ran out of cash till 1 pm. ATM’s in the city were not working for the third consecutive day in Panchkula causing inconvenience to the general public.
The chaos entered third day after demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes almost all ATMs failed to disburse cash on Saturday as well. However, the post office in Sector 4 exchanged old currency notes from 11 am to 1 pm. The post office in Sector 8 also disbursed off cash on Saturday after two days of no exchange of currency. According to the officials at the post office, they got the cash quite late on Friday following which they started disbursing it on Saturday and will continue the same on Sunday.
But the major issue over which the residents have fumed from the very first day is that ATMs are not working in Panchkula. The reason is that they are not calibrated to disburse only Rs 100 currency notes. People continue to line up outside banks in entire Panchkula for currency exchange and depositing old notes.
Many banks in the city at around 1 pm, declared that there was no cash for exchange but officials said they would replenish it soon. Few locked its gate and claimed that there was no cash and denied for exchange, however few branch mangers assured their customers that they will be getting the new currency notes on Sunday.
Also following all the chaos, poor man is suffering as they are not finding any way to tackle with the same. Meanwhile the local bodies department allowed depositing of property tax in Panchkula in demonetized notes of Rs 500 or Rs 1,000 till midnight of November 14.
