Panchkula: To get relief from the massive traffic jams, mainly near the flyover, the authorities are all set with a new project. The project, which is in the pipeline for a couple of years, is to be implemented soon. To get rid of the traffic congestion, two routes are to be carved out near the flyover situated between Sectors 12 and 20.
Following the project, a committee comprising officials from several departments was constituted on Monday. The committee has been directed to prepare a report of the proposed routes and submit the same by March 4.
The matter was taken up at a meeting held by the district administration on Monday in which officials of all departments concerned were called following which the committee was constituted. The departments included in the project are National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), Police Department, Public Works Department (PWD), Town and Planning, Municipal Corporation and a few others.
The committee will inspect the site on February 24.
Local MLA Gian Chand Gupta said, ‘’Following the meeting, a committee has been constituted which has been asked to submit the report in the first week of March. The report will be made with regard to the outflow of traffic during past years and taking into consideration the future accessibility. Connectivity between Sectors 12 and 20 will also be considered in the plan.’’
