Chandigarh: The cash crunch is still haunting residents of Chandigarh as ATMs across the city are without cash. There is no respite from long queues in front of ATMs which usually go dry by noon.
On Tuesday around 80 per cent ATMs ran out of cash in first half of the day. The entire rush got concentrated on the ATMs existing outside the main branches of banks to get cash. People said that they have to come all the way from southern and eastern sectors to get money.
During the reality checks made by Daily Post, it was observed that many ATMs displayed the placard of ‘No Cash’ in Sectors 29, 31, 32, Ram Darbar, Industrial Area, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42 and other sectors.
Serpentine queues were seen outside ATMs in bank square as all the main branches of the various banks are housed there. Some of the people standing in queues said that they have come all the way from Chamkaur Sahib in Punjab, Kangra, Baddi in Himachal Pradesh to withdraw money as ATM’s in their towns are closed from past 15 day
