Chandigarh: Whatever may be the end result of the International Yoga Day, it will definitely leave many synonyms behind. The day starts showing its impact in one way or the other. Some say it’s ‘staple food,’ giving sound sleep,improving body shape, loss of belly flab, shrinking waist, pain killing and so on. These days, it is a common scene in the city’s parks people are practicing ‘Asanas’ in early mornings. But it has also another impact which is unnoticed. Women start noticing a little extra belly flab loss and men feel shrinking their waists. A number of UT’s employees admitted while talking to the Daily Post that the day has brought a sea change in their routine life. A number of ‘Babus’ said that they have noticed shrinking of waists and loosening of clothes.
They have to use belts and needed stitching new clothes according to the length. Women who come out for yogic exercise in one of Sector 48 parks, said that they were doing Yoga for the past one month and noticing loss of belly flab. “I am getting reshaped and Yoga is like a staple food,” said one of them. “We will continue to practice Yoga even after International Yoga Day is over. Another said that she felt a lot of change and has sound sleep at night. State Liaison Officer, NSS Cell, Chandigarh, Bikram Rana admitted that the day has changed the routine life.
The Cell would provide 5000 NSS volunteers to participate in the International Yoga Day on June 21 at Capitol Complex, he said. The NSS volunteers who would participate in the day-long with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that it has imbibed a habit of early rise and a sense of discipline. They came out to the place early at 6 a.m and did Yoga for an hour. More and more people knew the importance of Yoga with every passing day, said Rana. The day has made inroads in every section of society and residents understood the importance of Yoga in daily life, he said.
He further stated that the Cell has prepared a week-long training programme which would start from June 13. All the programme officers have been intimated about the venue, date and time of training programme and the programme would continue till June 20, he revealed. The Chandigarh Administration has acquired the services of more than 300 Yoga experts from nearly 200 Yoga centres across the city. It is also revealed that 10,000 volunteers each from Punjab and Haryana, neighbouring states would also participate in the day along with the Prime Minister. Nearly 2500 personnel of Chandigarh Police are also expected to participate in the event.
For purpose of registration, official of Sector 17 media-cum-online facility centre said that number of registration continued to swell with passing of each day. The administration has set up five such Centres across the city and till day 42, 300 have registered themselves for the day in the city and over 4,000 forms were pending.
