Chandigarh: Some people make their paths in life and don’t bank upon others. J C Diwan is one among them started his journey that was full of challenges and required never say stop attitude.
After his stint of 40 years job in United Kingdom, J C Diwan back to his roots and has been putting all his energy into helping students of economically weaker section. Speaking to Daily Post, J C Diwan stated that he found a number of students dropped out schools because they could not pay fee.
In 2007, he initiated a campaign ‘Support a Child’ and started looking for students who dropped ou fronm schools. In the beginning, he adopted four students of government school and now every year Diwan adopts around 60-70 students.
Diwan said that so far he has helped over 600 students in pursuing their education up to Class XII. Other than arranging school fee, Diwan also helped students in arranging study material and school uniform. Diwan said that he assisted a girl from Nabha of Patiala district in pursuing her study from Class X to diploma course in Mechanical Engineering.
The same girl topped Thapar College, Patiala in Mechanical Engineering. To make his campaign feasible at larger scale Diwan has adopted government schools in Sector 44 and Sector 46, Chandigarh but has a grudge that none of his students have made a mark in sports till date and want to see his students standing at podiums.
