NSUI wins PU Elections, SFS stands second. NSUI party, the student body of Congress has won the Panjab University, Chandigarh elections of 2017. Jashan Kamboj of NSUI secured 2801 votes and won the Presidential seat of PUCSC. Initially, it seemed to be stiff competition between SFS and NSUI. However, as far as the counting went further NSUI managed to take a good lead which SFS wasn’t able to take over. NSUI wins PU Elections. After coming 3rd and 4th in 2015 and 2016 Campus elections respectively, NSUI made a strong comeback and secured the Student Council. While, SFS a leftist student wing felt short for the second time. In last year’s elections, SFS gave a very impressive performance and stood third, just a few votes behind SOI (who stood second). Hassanpreet Kaur of SFS is the first runner up and secured 2190 votes. During the elections campaign at the University Campus, both SFS and NSUI were said to be the strongest contenders. NSUI had joined hands with NSUI Student Front, who made a separate wing last year. Not only this, NSUI also welcomed many student leaders from other parties especially from SOI.While PUSU, who was in council last year, stood third, the results of SOI were very shameful as well. SOI holds the record of biggest margin of votes in victory but this year they could only get 1190 votes for President and stood 5th. The numbers of votes they got this year is even lower than their record margin of victory.NSUI secured 3 seats in the council including the post of President, Vice-President and General Secretary. The post of Joint Secretary has been won by Karan Randhawa of ISA (in alliance with PUSU, NSO and PPSO). Karan Randhawa was a former SOI leader. The Office Bearers of Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) 2017 are Jashan Kamboj (President), Karanvir Singh (Vice-President), Vani Sood (General-Secretary) and Karanbir Singh Randhawa (Joint-Secretary).
