Chandigarh: Death case of a 17-year- old dalit girl has taken a new twist as parents alleged rape and murder thus accusing both Kuldeep Chauhan and his brother Aman Chauhan for the crime. The post mortem report has not ruled out sexual assault whereas Government Railway Police (GRP) is yet to ascertain whether the girl was murdered or it was an accident.
GRP has however added Section 3 of the SC, ST act against Kuldeep Chauhan and his brother Aman Chauhan, the suspects. Kuldeep and Aman are yet to be arrested. Earlier GRP had booked the two brothers under section 302 and 34 of the IPC following the complaint of the father of the girl.
According to the post mortem report, the sexual assault has not been ruled out said the GRP and also the cause of death of the dalit girl is yet to be confirmed. GRP DSP Taken Raj said, “We are still investigating whether dalit girl was killed or it was an accidental death. Though sexual assault has not been ruled out in the post mortem report and the vaginal swabs have been further sent for analysis and POCSO act will only be added once we get confirmation report. Also, as girl belonged to Harijan caste, SC,ST act under Section 3 has been added against unknown persons. We will also get the suicide note examined by forensic experts for its authenticity of being written by the girl.”
DSP also added that now GRP will analyse mobile tower dumps of the crime spot as well as CCTV footage of the mall where Kuldeep was working. The parents of Kuldeep, said DSP, had alleged that Kuldeep did meet the girl in the evening but after that Kuldeep went to the mall for work. After that girl went back to her house. However, next morning the girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances along the railway tracks.
Parents and other dalit community members gheroed the GRP police station outside railway station on Monday and alleged that the girl was raped and murdered. Father of the girl said, “She can never commit suicide as we had agreed to get her married to Kuldeep. We also went to the house of the boy but his parent’s threatened to kill our daughter as we are from lower caste and they were against getting her married to their son. We demand immediate arrest of the boy.”
Parents of the girl have also lodged a complaint with SC, ST commission for which the commission has summoned GRP as well as. UT SSP to file reply in the case by Wednesday, said B R Tisawar, president Chandigarh Dalit Welfare Association.
