Chandigarh: The oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) held at Panjab University (PU) on Wednesday. The elections for executive committee also took place on the same day.
The ceremony took place at the Physics Auditorium at PU after the elections of Executive Council. Panjab University Students’ Union’s (PUSU) Nishant Kaushal sworn in as the president of PUCSC, whereas Avneet Kaur (NSUI-SF) took oath as the council’s vice-president. Ashiq Mohammad has sworn in as the secretary, whereas Amit Kaushik from NSUI-SF took charge as the joint secretary. PU Dean Students Welfare Professor Navdeep Goyal and Dean Students Welfare Women Professor Nandita Shukla were present on the occasion.
PUSU and NSUI-SF’s alliance has swept the PUCSC polls this year. PUSU has won after five years.
Interestingly, except for founder member of PUSU, Jaskaran Singh Brar, there was no political bigwig present on the ceremony. So, PU authorities had not to make any special arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony.
Last year, during the swearing-in ceremony there was a massive crowd as Sukhbir Badal had come for the oath-taking of SOI and its alliance, which had swept the polls last year. Badal had come and made several promises to the students.
The DSW congratulated the new office bearers and advised them to sincerely work for student welfare.
Rohit Rana, President of NSUI Students Front said, “I thank all the students who voted for us for bestowing trust and faith in our party. We will make sure that we work hard to maintain their trust in us.”
Commenting on the win, PUSU President Nirjog Mann said, “Our party was fully committed towards the cause of student welfare and he thanked students for electing a student party as their representative.”
