The Punjab government has sanctioned a pension of Rs. 8 thousand per month for acid attack victims. Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh has approved the proposal of Social Security, Women and Child Development Department, which stated that acute acid attacking girls, who have become difficult to live after episode of acid attack, Provide financial assistance each month.
Now Captain cleared it. An official of the CM’s office confirmed the approval of the Chief Minister. Though the Additional Chief Secretary of the department said that the department had proposed this proposal, but the file has not been cleared by the Chief Minister yet.
The department does not have any data on how many acid attack victims are in the state. According to the Additional Chief Secretary of the department, this plan will be advertised for the benefit of the pension and the victims will be asked to apply. A committee will be formed by the Deputy Commissioner and the Chief Minister’s Office to identify the beneficiaries.
