Chandigarh:The Panjab University Campus Students Council and Panjab University Students Union today held a meeting at Conference Hall of PUCSC at Panjab University to discuss various issues related to student welfare which were pending since a long time.
The meeting was chaired by PUCSC, President, Nishant Kaushal and Party President of PUSU Navaldeep Singh. Students from all the department had gathered at PUCSC office to convey their problems to the Student Council led by PUSU.
Among the problems which were mainly discussed , included, online allocations of hostels, fee hike rollback, regularisation of self-financed departments such as UILS, construction of new parking site at UILS, student journals, hostels for MPhil and PhD scholars, insufficient availability of water, leakage, construction of new hostels, air conditioners in BDS department, attendance issue of cultural activities, security issues in south campus, funds for geology field trip, internship programme for psychology dept in masters, library reading room problem etc.
The council promised to get a mock drill conducted in order to cope with any natural calamity by fire dept. The meeting saw a high vo ltage discussion on issue of centralisation of university which saw balanced responses from different members of the meeting. Navaldeep, while disclosing the minutes of meeting said that they will soon give a representation to the Vice-Chancellor regarding the above issues and press for their earliest disposal.
