Panjab University Teacher’s Association (PUTA) calls an emergency meeting to discuss the issue of non-release of salaries to the teaching staff. The meeting that was held on Sunday at 2.30 pm discussed the issue of non-release of salaries to the teaching staff.
Members took a serious note of this issue and made deliberations at length. It was unanimously resolved to sit on Dharna in front of the office of the Vice-Chancellor from Dharna in front of an office of the Vice-Chancellor from 8-10th March between 11.00am to 1.00pm with a view to raising the concerns of the teaching community.
While during the meeting, it was also resolved to hold a General Body Meeting (GBM) on March 14 to seek the opinions of the faculty on this issue and to chalk out the future action plans.
The PUTA members also said that all the protests, in this connection are planned to be organised by the Joint Action committee (JAC) constituted earlier to discuss the issue of financial crisis in Panjab University. Meanwhile, a few days back too, the PUTA members had met the Punjab University authorities. After the meeting, the members assured that the PU authorities have promised to look into the matter with all urgency.
The members said that after the meeting with the PU authorities they were very hopeful that the situation would be resolved very soon and we shall get our salaries of February in the coming days.
However, over the delay in salaries, many teachers have also approached PUTA showing their concerns that because of the delay they are not able to manage their personal financial budget.
