A large number of patients at PGI and emergency ambulances were left harassed and frowning after doctors of the PGI protested against the PGI Administration and blocked the main entry to the PGI here on Sunday night. The high drama prevailed after Harjinder Kaur, a patient 72-year-old patient, died on Sunday at 8.30 pm during the treatment.
Resident of Ludhiana Harjinder Kaur was admitted to the PGI on August 20. After she was declared dead, one of the relatives slapped junior resident doctor namely Mani. Soon after this, fellow doctors started protesting at the emergency gate and even raised slogans against the PGI Administration.
The protesters blocked and closed the main gate of the PGI, restricting entry to every vehicle including ambulances coming for emergency. The most sufferers were the patients at PGI emergency.
Meanwhile, till the filing of the story, the police had reached the spot and director of the PGI with other administration officials of the PGI was having conversation with the complainant doctor.
SHO Police Station said Narinder Patial, “We are yet to receive any formal complaint, following which we will act appropriately. We have opened the other gates of the PGI for entry of vehicles and ambulances.
