Rs 13 cr heist: Owners booked for conspiracy

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police on Saturday, booked Vinod Verma and Rajesh Verma, owners of Forever Diamonds regarding the alleged robbery at their showroom in Sector 17. The police has discarded the case of robbery registered earlier and booked them under sections of conspiracy, cheating, forgery and destruction of evidences. As per sources, both the accused are absconding at the moment and will be arrested soon.

“The statement of the manager of jewellery showroom was recorded under 164 CRPC. The manager has stated that the owners of the showroom conspired the robbery in order to get the financial benefits.

Earlier, during the day both the brothers Rajneesh Verma and Vinod Verma got admitted at the Panchkula-based government hospital on Saturday.According to the sources, the two owners who are a resident of Sector 8, Panchkula, got admitted at Dhawan Hospital at Sector 5 Panchkula following illness.

The duo have been questioned by the police several times concerning the robbery at their showroom, however the police have found their statements and answers ‘unsatisfactory’ and ‘inconsistent’. Sources said that police are finding something fishy in the robbery.

However, a police official on condition of anonymity said that they are doubtful about the robbery which took place at the Forever Diamonds and the owners are not cooperating in the investigation.
