Chandigarh: The police have enhanced the security arrangements ahead of the Assembly election results scheduled to be announced on Saturday.
Chandigarh SSP Eish Singhal said, “We have alerted our police force. The local police stations and other units have been directed to keep vigil in the city. Cops will take appropriate action if any protests are found being taking place.” Inspectors and DSPs in charge of respective areas had been directed to be extra-vigilant even after the announcement of the results, added the SSP.
A police official said that the outer nakas at the Dhillon barrier, Housing Board light point at Manimajra, Zirakpur, Mattour barrier, Mohali barrier and Mullanpur barrier had been beefed up with extra security.
The security arrangements had also been beefed up around the residence of Punjab political leaders in Chandigarh. The railway station, ISBT, Sector 17 market and other places are under vigil of the cops, added a police official.
