Chandigarh: The Seminar e-Content 2016 “Library Services and Management A Platform Approach” was Inaugurated by Panjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Prof Arun Kumar Grover.
In his Keynote Address, Prof Grover spoke on how while doing his PhD at the TIFR he saw the importance of a well-organised Library and making resources available to institutions and the need of formation of Consortia to share the available resources among similar organisations.
He congratulated Informatics Publishing Limited for having initiated this series of Seminars and also holding it for the second time in Chandigarh. Prof Grover also narrated how Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) has been formed with the objective of strengthening research and invited Informatics to join hands with CRIKC to develop newer models that will help institutions share their Library resources with other institutions.
Prof Grover also launched www.informaticsjournals.com the Journals Publishing program of Informatics, which aspires to become the robust Open Access and Subscription based Journal Publishing platform.
CEO of Informatics Publishing Limited Sanjay Grover introduced the Honorable Vice Chancellor to the members of fully packed hall. He also explained briefly how the Seminar series started in 2004 and was re branded in 2010 as e-Content 2010 and expressed that this is a meet to highlight the new products and services available to the LIS Professionals.
It also is a time where the LIS Professionals get to interact with new technologies not only they get an opportunity to interact with members of the fraternity on the challenges that they faced and share the solutions they have evolved in the process. There was also a Panel Debate on Cloud, Discovery Tools, Open Source and Interoperability in Library Technology Ecosystem with Punjabi University, Patiala Prof Jagtar Singh, PU Librarian Dr Raj Kumar, PU Professor Rajat Sandhir, PEC University of Technology, Dr Seema Vasishta, IIT Ropar Dr Dinesh K.
