Chandigarh: The results for second round of the senate elections for Principal and Staff of Technical and Prof Colleges constituency were announced today. The elections for the same were held on September 12. Surinder Singh Sangha(Dasmesh Girls College of Education, Badal) from Sri Muktsar Sahib, Harsh Batra (Govt. College of Education) from Chandigarh and Sarabjit Kaur(Guru Ram Dass BEd College) from Fazilka won the three vacant seats in principals’ category.
Vipul Kumar Narang (Kenway College of Education) from Abohar, Gurmit Singh (Malwa Central College of Education for Women) from Ludhiana and Neeru Malik (Dev Samaj College of Education) from Chandigarh won in the staff’s category.
Harsh Batra, Principal, Govt. College of Education, Sector-20 won in the principals category from UT and Neeru Malik, Assistant Professor, Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector-36 won in the technical staff constituency to represent UT from the constituency in the senate. The polling was held at 28 polling stations, out of which four were set up by the authorities in Chandigarh, from 8 am to 5 pm. 43 of the 46 votes(93 pc) for principal category and 519 of the 691 (75 pc votes were polled under the technical and professional staff category at all polling stations.
Under the staff of the technical and professional category, three assistant professors from Abohar district, one from Ludhiana and two from city colleges were contesting. Under the principal category, there were two candidates from Chandigarh, one each from Ludhiana, Fazilka and Muktsar. The third phase of the elections would be for Professors and Associate/Assistant Professors of PU Teaching departments. It would be held on September 19, 2016 from 8 am to 5 pm.
The fourth and final phase of the elections would be for registered graduate constituency on September 25, 2016 from 8 am to 5 pm at 270 polling booths spread over in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Delhi.
